'Batman vs. Superman' finds its Wonder Woman

As if having Batman and Superman together in a movie wasn't enough, Zack Snyder's upcoming action epic has thrown in another major hero.
Or should we say heroine.

Studio Warner Bros. and DC Comics confirmed on Wednesday that actress and model Gal Gadot has been cast in Snyder's Batman vs. Superman as Diana Prince, a.k.a. Wonder Woman.
Gadot's portrayal of the Amazonian princess will be a first on the big screen.
“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe,” director Snyder said in a statement. “Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”
Gadot, 28, most recently appeared in summer blockbuster "Fast & Furious 6," and has previously starred in 2011's "Fast Five," 2010's "Date Night" and "Knight and Day."
The Israeli star will be joining Henry Cavill, who's reprising his role as the Man of Steel, and Ben Affleck, who of course has been cast as Batman, in the anticipated project. Batman vs. Superman, which DC Comics' says is still untitled, is scheduled to start principal photography in early 2014 with a release date of July 17, 2015.
